Workshop: “Enchanted Journeys”

Join Kimberley on a trip across time to explore the magic of the Southwest through her novels. Time travel, historical events and wars as well as Hispanic and Native American culture open up new worlds of ideas and communication between kids, librarians and teachers through the stories and issues contained within her books. With a fascinating Power Point Presentation and some of Kimberley’s favorite books, she shows the writing process: how to get ideas for stories, how to HOOK your reader, shaping and structuring, re-writing, editing, and publication. Recommended for Grades 4-8.

The presentation is interactive, lasts about 50-60 minutes, and includes an intriguing Imagination Exercise set against extraordinary music as well as time for questions from the audience.

Workshop: “The Creative Diary”

Students will discover the joy of their Imagination and the writing process. During this workshop, they will produce two short stories. Dig into the Imagination Box, go on a wild journey through your own mind and then write, write, write! Fun and provocative exercises that will get the writing juices flowing. Even reluctant writers will love this fresh approach!

Groups of up to 200 can be accommodated. A library works well, of course, but the gym or cafeteria can also be used. Recommended for Grades 3-8.
