Some of Kimberley's favorite authors are Richard Peck, Gary Paulsen, Lois Duncan, Katherine Paterson, Robert Cormier, Lois Lowry, Paula Danziger, and Louise Fitzhugh who wrote Harriet the Spy - - Kimberley read this book over and over again when she was 11 and even tried being a spy herself!

Carolee Dean's first novel, Comfort, has been hailed as "stunning". She is also a personal friend and critique partner of Kimberley's.

Alex Flinn authors contemporary high school stories in the vein of Robert Cormier.

Kelly Milner Halls, a prolific writer who creates books about dinosaurs, baby chicks, and just about everything in between. (She is also Kimberley’s creative web designer!)

Uma Krishnaswami is the author of novels and picture books and includes provocative articles on writing about Asian cultures on her web site.

Barbara O’Connor writes middle-grade novels in a delightfully warm southern "voice".

Cynthia Leitich Smith writes deeply moving stories, as well as creating a fabulous web site about literature and literacy for children’s books that teachers and parents will love, too.

Jana Striegel has a wonderful first novel out called Homeroom Exercise. If you love ballet and dancing, then you'll love this book!
